One event, 3 Stories

Depending on what channel you were watching yesterday morning, you may have a channel specific understanding of what happened when U.S. embassy personnel lost their lives.

I flipped on the TV as I was getting ready for work and FOX came on.  In about 60 seconds I heard the phrase “act of war” at least 3 times and how the administration apologized to the people who stormed the embassy.  What?  Romney has already released a statement calling out the President for putting out the statement.  Oh, and the President hates Israel.

I flipped to MSNBC and the tone in the commentators voices was less intense and they were explaining, in round table fashion, the events of the previous evening and that morning.  Someone was saying that the release came from the embassy and was not cleared through Washington.  How the statement was likely an attempt to calm the situation.

Over to CNN:  Two people debating the response, freedom of speech, and if it had anything to do with Libya.

Back to FOX:  They are interviewing someone about the Susan G Koman Foundation.  I am sure an important story, but I thought we were going to WAR!

Back to MSNBC:  They are interviewing someone about Israel and how Netanyahu wants a sit down with the President.

CNN again: Recapping the situation.

From FOX I also heard “military response” and then “impending doom” about the economic crisis.

My last note from MSNBC was about the college bubble.

So was the morning news about the 7 signs of the apocalypse, nothing urgent except the tragic death public servants or was it about an unfolding situation that no one had all the facts about yet?
